My Bicycle Tour In Vermont
Several years ago, a friend took me on a bicycle tour in the Sonoma Valley of California. Ever since I took that trip, I have been hooked on the idea of being active when vacationing. I save money every year that I like to put in what I call my: bicycle tour fund.

Last year I did my yearly excursion to Vermont, which is an excellent place to visit, but even better on a bicycle. I found a company there that specializes in bicycle tours of the villages in Southeast Vermont and I am so glad that I chose that trip when I did. It exceeded every expectation that I had and it was quite possibly one of the best cycling experience that I’ve ever had.

Bicycle tours are really great only if the support team that is behind you is helpful and courteous. The scenery will soon fade away if the breakfasts are bad or the beds are too lumpy. It is a lot of work to cycle around to see sights instead of driving around to see them in a rental car - so keep that in mind when you choose a company to join up on a tour with. After this last bicycle tour I will recommend the company I used and can recommend it to anyone.

I think that Vermont may be the prettiest state I have ever visited in my life. While I



was on my bicycle tour, I saw so many lovely villages, and they are so tiny and really like something in a painting. There were also white churches and picket fences and I saw a brick federalist mansion that nearly took my breath away. I stopped to shop at several lcoal craft shops and little stores. One time I even visited a general store - now that's an experience.

I somehow felt connected to a past I did not have the opportunity to be part of. Many days there were people sitting on their front porches waving as our bicycle group road by. But, I was most surprised by the excellent accommodations that were provided for us. We stayed two nights at the Kedron Valley Inn. That inn is over 168 years old and has been selected by travel writers as one of the top ten inns in the entire United States.

The next inn that we stayed at was much newer, but it had a few more amenities. I enjoyed the proprietors at this one so much because they really treated us like family. They sat on the porch with us after sundown and told stories about various people that had stayed there over the years. I think I could have listened to them for hours and hours if I had not been so tired from the day’s riding on the bicycle tour and so I decided to turn in early.
